The Ossiomo Power Company, Ologbo, Edo State has expressed its readiness to file cases of contempt of court proceedings against a Chinese firm, Jiangsu Communication Clean Energy Technology Co. Ltd (CCETC) over alleged fragrant disregarding of competent court orders.
In a statement weekend in Benin City by the Public Relations Officer, Deacon Ralph Okhiria, he explained that despite several court orders, CCETC has continued to engage in several vexatious activities in deliberate disregard of the orders of both the Federal High Court, Abuja and Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City.
Deacon Okhiria alleged that in direct breach of two separate orders of the Federal High Court, Abuja and Edo State High Court, Benin City, some Chinese staff of CCETC in league with "hired people of questionable characters" had on Thursday, August 6, 2026 used an excavator to illegally trespass the Ossiomo land to erect two electricity concrete poles.
In continuation of the illegality, he charged that the following day, on 7th August, 2026, CCETC had sought to erect electricity poles on Ossiomo’s land to facilitate a connection to IPP1 and to the 33kV lines, both wholly owned by the Ossiomo companies, stressing:
"CCETC has been restrained by the Edo State High Court as well as the Federal High Court, Abuja from tampering with these facilities."
The spokesman said that these illegal actions are particularly concerning given the court orders and the fact that the underlying disputes still remain before the courts.
Deacon Okhiria further alleged: "Furthermore, CCETC in connivance with some people of questionable characters have sought to attack Ossiomo personnel and security officers at its facilities, including the gas plant, and interfere with it’s properties and operations.
"We therefore call on the relevant authorities to ensure CCETC comply with the court orders and prevent further unauthorized interference with Ossiomo’s property, infrastructure and operations to avoid the breakdown of law and order.
"Ossiomo Power Company reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the dispute through appropriate legal and regulatory channels."
Deacon Okhiria stressed that CCETC and Ossiomo Power Company are still in the Federal High Court, Abuja and the Edo State High Court, Benin City, which had earlier made orders for status quo ante.
The power company's spokesman said that as a disciplined and law abiding entity, the company decided to drag CCETC to court because of its habit of routinely disobeying legitimate court orders.
Recall that the power company had in a statement on August 1, 2026 accused the Chinese firm of attempting to circumvent the ongoing litigation at the Federal High Court via a petition to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
