Edo@35: EGSOPADEC Member Evien Salutes Founding Fathers, Lauds Okpebholo's Giant Developmental Strides

The member representing Edo North senatorial district on the board of the Edo State Oil and Gas producing Areas Development commission (EGSOPADEC), Hon. Austin Aigbokhai Evien has paid glowing tributes to the vision of the founding fathers of Edo State.

Created on 27th of August 1991 by former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, the Heart Beat of the Nation State is 35 today.

Hon. Evien saluted the courage, and statesmanship of the founding fathers and realizing the dreams of Edo people to have a state of their own from the defunct Bendel State, a development which has sidetracked even development.

The board member said Edo State is transforming from different stages of development since it's creation,with visible projets embarked upon by different leaders elected on the platforms of different political parties to rule the state.

He cited peace and tranquility as the hallmark of the various administrations that have ruled the state since it's creation 35 years ago.

 Hon. Evien, from Owan West Local Government Area and secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the local government expressed satisfaction over the peaceful coexistence of Edo people, despite being adherents of different religions, cultural values, and norms, adding that they are bounded by common patrimony and cultural affinity.

He commended the tremendous contributions of Edo traditional institution, royal fathers and religious leaders for preserving, promoting and projecting the cultural heritage of the state, preventing it from going into extinction.

Hon. Evien paid glowing tribute to Governor Monday Okpebholo for his transformational leadership qualities which has boosted the achievements recorded in all sectors of the state economy,since his assumption of office in November 2024.

He said: "Governor Okpebholo has re+engineered road construction across the three senatorial districts, with the particular reference to the award of contract for the construction of Ozalla Uhumora - Sabogidda Ora road, construction of first ever flyover bridge at Ramat Park, which is 100 percent completed, on going construction work at another flyover bridge on Adesua Grammar School Road junction,Sapele Road to end the series of gridlock associated with Sapele Road, amongst others."

On Education, Hon Evien noted that the administration has renovated several schools, built perimeter fences, increased subvention to Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State University Iyamho, cleared of back log of salaries owned to staff of College of Education,Ekiadolor as well as the College of Agriculture,Iguoariakhi.

He commended the governor for utilising allocation accruing to the state from the Federation Account judiciously, executing projects that are add value and impact  positively on Edo people.
