At Surprise Birthday Party, Edo Health Commissioner Oshiomhole Reiterates Commitment to Affordable, Accessible Healthcare

The  Edo State commissioner of  Health, Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole has reiterated the determination of the government to strengthen synergy with development partners to guarantee adequate funding of the health sector for efficient service delivery.

 Speaking Monday in his office during a surprise birthday party hosted by staff  including heads of agencies of the ministry, Dr. Oshiomhole used the opportunity to reinstate Governor Monday Okpebholo's commitment to providing affordable and accessible health care services to Edo people.

He disclosed that the state government has established a healthy relationship with development partners, and donor agencies in the health sector, including the world Health Organisation (WHO), resulting in the funding of its programmes by the international body. 

While reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the faithful implementation of Governor Okpebholo's SHINE Agenda, the health commissioner paid glowing tribute to him for providing him the platform to serve the state.

He thanked the staff of the ministry, and heads of the different agencies for putting the birthday celebration together, without his notice, noting that it was a testament of love and shared commitment of solidarity for him.

He prayed God to grant him the wisdom of Solomon,courage of Joshua and the integrity of Joseph to impact positively on staff and move the health sector to greater heights.

The permanent secretary, Dr. Paul Eighemhenrio described the celebrant as an exceptional and transformational leader, who has succeeded in galvanizing the staff to greatness.

Also speaking, Mr. Nurudeen Aliu, a permanent secretary in Edo State Civil Service showered encomiums on the Dr. Oshiomhole for promoting inclusivity, fostering unity and oneness amongst the staff and in the process, stimulating higher productivity.

The Chairman, Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Ehiabhi Odiase, who expressed satisfaction with the series of achievements recorded in the health sector under he health commissioner, however called for more collaboration and synergy amongst the heads of the various agencies, to sustain the successes.

The state co- coordinator of WHO, Dr. Eyo said that the body is impressed with the leadership qualities of the Dr. Oshiomhole and his proactive approach to reforms in health care delivery system in the state.

Speaking on behalf of other directors, the former chief medical director, Edo Specialist Hospital, Dr. David Odiko , a consultant obstetrics and gynaecology, and director, department of family in he ministry applauded the commissioner for his commitment to staff welfare.
