A former vice chairman of Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, Hon. Jeffrey Edorodion has lauded Governor Monday Okpebholo for his giant development strides in the state.
Hon. Edorodion, who spoke recently in Benin City said that the Edo State capital is fast wearing a new look due to solid infrastructure being put in place by the current All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration of Governor Okpebholo.
The APC chieftain noted that the Ikpoba Hill flyover, the first of its kind in Benin City, which is almost completed, will no doubt help to tackle the frequent hold up on that that axis and also help to beautiful the capital city.
He said that it is equally noteworthy that the APC state led administration is also building another flyover on Sapele Road by Adesuwa junction to also solve the notorious traffic bottleneck on the express way.
Hon. Edorodion predicted that going by the manner at which he started off after his inauguration in November 2024, the incumbent governor may surpass the record of former governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole.
He added: "You'll recall that Governor Oshiomhole didn't set out on time. He spent time clearing the mess from the past administration. Besides, he spent more a year tangling with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dominated House of Assembly over budget and other issues.
"Governor Okpebholo didn't have such baggages. He didn't have such distractions. It is on record that he started off right from day one, immediately after he was sworn in. He has remained focused, employing thousands of teachers, building new classrooms, building quality roads and other infrastructure through out the state."
The former vice chairman also commended the governor for his zero tolerance for cultists and kidnappers, noting that the government's approach to tackling menace of kidnapping is fast yielding results.
Hon. Edorodion said that he was eagerly awaiting the commissioning of the 100MW Ologbo Independent Power Plant in his native Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, adding it will no doubt go a long way in lighting up the state and also changing the economic fortunes of the Heartbeat of the Nation state.
He added: "It was heartwarming to note that the governor did not forget Edo people, who recently returned from the Republic of South Africa in the wake of the xenophobic attacks. He catered for the returnees, gave them N1 million each to start any business of their choice and even offered jobs to those qualified. Governor Okpebholo has kept his promises. Under his watch, a new Edo is indeed Rising."
