Accolades As Benin Anglican Diocese Knights Ex-Governors Ogbeha, Igbinedion, Their Wives, Others

Former military governor of Bendel State (now Edo and Delta States), Senator Tunde Ogbeha was weekend invested as a Knight of Augustine, while his wife, Mrs Ogbeha was invested as Dame of St Mary, both of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Diocese of Benin, Edo State.

Former Edo State Governor Lucky Igbinedion and his wife, Eki were also knighted at the ceremony, which held at the sprawling St Mathew Cathedral, Anglican Church, Diocese of Benin on Sakpoba Road, Benin City.

The Kogi State born retired Brigadier General, who had a stint in the upper chamber of the ninth session of the National Assembly, where he represented Kogi West, left behind a legacy of projects that improved the lots of his constituents.

Since his voyage in the political terrain, the elder statesman has bagged different awards to his credit, including the conferment of an honourary doctorate degree of Business Administration by Benson Idahosa University, Benin City last year.

The venue of the investiture of 26 knights of St Christopher and St Augustine, and 31Dames of St Mary was filled to capacity as dignitaries from all walks of life, including the Iyase of Benin kingdom, Chief Sam Igbe, MFR; Esama of Benin Kingdom, Sir Chief Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion; former two time Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky  Igbinedion; and his wife, Lady Eki Igbinedion, who were also knighted.

The first lesson, taken from the Book of 1Samuel: 17, which centred on the fall of Goliath was read by the former governor, while the second Bible reading taken from the book of Ephesians 6: 10-11, which centred on wearing the Armour of God, was read by Sir Ogbeha.

The Bishop of Edo and Delta Dioceses of the Methodist Church, Rt. Rev. Dr. Nosakhare Nosayaba admonished the congregation to be steadfast in their faith in God, despite the socio- economic predicament presently affecting Nigerians.

Bishop Nosayaba congratulated the Bishop, Anglican Diocese of Benin, Rt. Rev. Peter Imasuen MFR, on his 65th birthday celebration and those invested into the knighthood of St Christopher and St Augustine for their new journey as defenders in God's Kingdom.

The Chancellor, Diocese of Benin, Justice Efe Ikponmwoba administered the oath of allegiance on the knights after which certificates of investiture were presented to them.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the event, Sir Ogbeha thanked the Benin Anglican Diocese for finding him worthy to be so honoured, which will spur him to rededicate his life to the service of God and humanity.

While thanking, Chief Igbinedion, the former Edo State governor for his tremendous support towards a successful hosting of the ceremony, the former military governor said his investiture as a Knight of St Augustine marked another significant milestone in his spiritual life, which will further stimulate and depeen his relationship with God.
