CRPP Tackles Afegbua, Insists Criticism of Okpebholo's Poor Performance is Altruistic, Not For Settlement

A group, the Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP) has vehemently denied that its strident criticisms of the administration of Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo is based on the expectation of settlement from the government.
In a joint statement weekend in Benin City by the national chairman Dr, Samson Isibor and the secretary Mr. Nkaa Waribe, they faulted the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua, who accused them of not being altruistic but rather seeking settlement in order to tone down their criticisms.
Isibor and Waribe accused Prince Afegbua of never treating his job as the image maker of a government with the seriousness it deserves, but a praise singer who goes about abusing anyone who has a divergent opinion of the government's performance.
They charged: "Rather than joining head with other members of his Exco to tackle the main issues affecting Edo people, Afegbua has thrown decency and civility to the wind in a manner unbecoming of a civil commissioner, always abusing and intimidating our leadership, always accusing us of expecting settlement from the state government.
"Let it be known to Afegbua that we are too decent to disappoint the masses and condescend to accepting settlement from a non-performing government."
The duo further condemned Prince Afegbua for speaking from both sides of his mouth, recalling that in 2022 when he (Prince Afegbua) was jobless, he attacked former Governor Godwin Obaseki without ceasing, just because he was not given an appointment,
The chairman and the scribe said that now that the commissioner is an appointee, he no longer sees anything good in criticizing the government he serves.
Isibor and Waribe maintained that the more the Edo State government spokesman goes about abusing the leadership of CRPP or any other opposition for criticizing Governor Okpebholo, the more he portrays the government negatively.
They called on Governor Okpebholo to relieve Prince Afegbua of his appointment over his failure to positively market the government that appointed him.
They advised him to learn from his predecessor, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu,, who they said is an intelligent and sound activist who marketed his boss effectively, and very diplomatic and with a good human relation.
