Furious over the alleged massive falsification of the result of Monday May, 18, 2026 senatorial primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta South, an aspirant, Hon. Michael Diden has called on the APC Senate Appeal Committee for Delta South to cancel the outcome of the exercise.
Hon. Diden, who spoke with journalists in Koko, headquarters of Warri North Local Government Area alleged that the figures announced were falsified in the office of the current Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, Hon. Godwin Ogorogba.
Going by the result as announced by the ruling APC Delta South Senatorial Returning Officer, incumbent Senator Joel Onovwakpo scored 87,805 votes to emerge victorious, while Diden popularly called Ejele garnered 30,794 votes.
Hon. Diden however dismissed the result with a wave of the hand, insisting that the figures were cooked up and sharply differed from the reality on the ground.
Hon. Diden, a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly said that the primary, which he said ought to have been conducted in a peaceful and transparent manner, was manipulated through the connivance of party officials and returning officers.
He charged: “The primary was supposed to be a brotherly affair, but in Isoko North, the report I got was that results were written at the office of the local government chairman, Hon. Godwin Ogorogba.
“They pursued our people away from the scene where they compiled their results at Hon Godwin Ogorogba's local government office. We expected the electoral committee members to have looked into the matter and do the right thing before the announcement but they didn't."
