The Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP) has challenged Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo to disclose the cost of construction work on Ramat Park flyover bridge, Benin City.
A statement in Benin City by the national chairman, Dr. Samson Isibor after the 2nd General Meeting of the association on May 2, 2026 demanded to know the identity of the Chinese firm that was awarded the project and the time line for the completion of the bridge.
Dr. Isibor queried: "What is the role of First Bank in the two projects? When were they advertised for bidding and in which national newspapers?"
Besides, the chairman wants the names of the Chinese firm that were awarded the contracts to be published and which other firms bidded for the construction.
Relying on the Freedom of Information Act as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Isibor said that the the organization was putting the government of Governor Okpebholo on notice that it shall be inviting the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to beam its searchlights on these projects.
He commended the Governor Okpebholo-led government for doing its best, however adding that believe CRPP was of the firm believe that the government has not met the expectations of the masses.
The statement added: "CRPP deliberated on claims by Okpebholo that he is the best governor, Edo has ever had and has performed better than previous governments. We call that a propaganda that is far from the truth.
"In fact, he is the least performing governor Edo has ever produced since its creation. We considered Governor Okpebholo's claim that his government has performed better than previous governments as far from the truth and cannot be substantiated."
CRPP commended and also sympathized with the people of Edo State for their resilience and endurance in the face of economic strangulation by the government in pwer in the State and the state of insecurity, especially in Ekpoma, Edo Central where Okpebholo comes from.
Dr. Isibor condemned as fallacious, claim by Governor Okpebholo that his government tolerates the opposition, alleging that Edo people know how intolerant his government is to CRPP's advice and criticism.
He further accused the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua for abusing and stigmatizing the organization, which he labeled as a "chop-chop organization".
The chairman charged: "He (Afegbua) threatened us in the manner of the infamous Nazi propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels, just because we suggested how to move the state forward."
The statement condemned what it emphasized as the Edo governor's undue interference and single-handedly picking candidates in the forthcoming primary election of his party.
He challenged Governor Okpebholo to explain to Edo people how he planned to deliver 2.5 million votes to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election, stressing;
"To us, it is nothing more than a wishful thinking, unless he plans to play political abracadabra with Edo voters. We assure him that Edo people will resist any attempt to subvert their wish through rigging, with the last drops of their blood.We urge him to let democracy breathe."
He faulted Governor Okpebholo's claim that his government has performed better than previous governments as far from the truth and cannot be substantiated.
"While not serving as mouth piece for the government of former Governor Godwin Obaseki, as we never met him for once throughout his eight years in office, we, however, make bold to say that he performed much better than Okpebholo's administration," he noted
