As Nigerians joined other parts of the world to mark this year's International Women's Day celebration, the Global president, Edo National Association Worldwide (ENAW), Engr. (Mrs.) Bose Oviasu has paid glowing tribute to Nigeria women for their managerial skills, resilience and indomitable spirit in nation building.

Mrs. Oviasu said the celebration, which comes up March 8 every year, has become an ingredient for evaluating the role of women in advancing the socio-economic, cultural and political achievements of women globally.

The ENAW president maintained that before and after the attainment of Independence in 1960, Nigerian women were noted for being forceful, passionate and resilient in guaranteeing social justice, women emancipation and unlocking their potentials towards nation building.

Mrs. Oviasu said: "The International Women's Day brings to focus the urgent need to dismantle all forms of religious, and cultural barriers, discriminatory laws, and social norms, to ensure equal rights, justice, safety and dignity of women globally."

Reflecting on the "Theme of this year's celebration which is "Give to Gain", the activist reminded that when people give, they gain together, adding:

"Let's help forge gender equality through abundant giving, which informed the collective decision of Edo National Association Worldwide to establish a Renal Dialysis and Diagnostic centre in Benin City to reduce the cost of dialysis service and mitigate the ailment."

She commended the unflinching support received from members of the association and non-members, noting that the renal dialysis centre in Okpella, Edo North has been completed while that of Ekpoma, Edo Central Senatorial district is under construction.

Mrs. Oviasu disclosed that the commissioning of the two facilities at Okpella and Ekpoma, will take place later in the year.

The ENAW president reiterated her determination to promote the welfare of members, foster unity and better understanding.

Mrs. Oviasu pledged to sustain the rich cultural heritage of Edo State and attract more developmental projects to the state in line with the vision of the association, which is to give back to the society.
