A top member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Edo State, Hon. Murphy Osaro Omoruyi
has called on the party's faithful and members of the Obidient Movement to remain calm and focused in spite of the unprovoked attack on the party's secretariat.
Hon. Omoruyi, the member representing Egor/Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency of Edo state in the National Assembly spoke weekend in Benin City shortly after inspecting the extent of damage done to the ADC state secretariat located at Ogbelaka Street by the hoodlums.
The federal lawmaker, who decried the level of destruction and act of arson carried out on the secretariat building by elements he described as enemies of democracy, declared that the barbaric act underscores the panic mode of some desperate politicians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing party supporters who accompanied him to the secretariat, Hon. Omoruyi said he came specifically to assess the extent of damage done to the secretariat by the hoodlums.
He continued: 'I have seen the level of damage done, and I am here to advise our members all over the state, the Obidient Movement, and all our supporters not to be deterred by the activities of the criminal elements. If you are close to these people, the mere mention of ADC causes them goose bumps because they are scared to their bone marrow as a result of what will confront them in 2027.
"They are aware of the looming tsunami, so they are scared. All these are signs of morbid fear, but I urge you all to remain calm and focused."
The ADC federal lawmaker told the budding opposition party faithful that as a law abiding politician, he would engage the Assistant Inspector- General of Police Zone 5 and the Edo State Commissioner of Police on the matter in addition with other pertinent issues relating to a rancor free 2027 elections, assuring that the outcome would be communicated to them.
Recall that some hoodlums suspected to be loyalists of rival political parties in the state had stormed the Edo State ADC secretariat last week, destroying the building and setting part of it on fire.
