The chairman of Edo State chapter of Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas  (HOSTCOM), Hon. Kenneth Aduwaye has advised Edo youths to refrain from violence and other anti-social vices.

In a statement Thursday in Benin City, Mr. Aduwaye urged youths to channel their ideas, energy and enterprise to build a prosperous Edo State instead of resorting to violence.

The chairman assured Governor Monday Okpebholo of the total support of HOSTCOM in his determination to bring about the rapid development and transformation of Edo State.

He said that the body was out to  ameliorate the general plight of oil bearing communities in the state and also improve on the infrastructure.

Hon. Aduwaye appealed to Governor Okpebholo to embark on people-oriented policies and good governance to strengthen women and youths in host communities.

He said that women and youths in oil and gas bearing communities should be included in decision-making.

While tasking the government on the need to deliver lasting solutions to the problems of oil rich but impoverished communities in the state, Mr. Aduwaye noted that socio-economic dividends as well as the protection of lives and properties are the keys for a brighter future in Edo state.

He disclosed that HOSTCOM has set up various working committees, including project and contract monitoring; petroleum industrial acts; community and relations; fund raising; EDSOPADEC liaison; crisis resolution in the various communities; liaison for refineries; and pipeline and illegal bunkering

He added: "A New Edo is Rising, rebuilding for a prosperous future for Edo people. Edo HOSTCOM will work with the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo for a prosperous Edo State."
