Leverage on the Record of Good Conduct Set by Edo Pilgrims - Rev. Omobude Charges Christians

Fresh from his pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Israel, the chairman, Edo State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Rev. Frank Omobude has called on intending Christian pilgrims to leverage on the unprecedented record of good performance by Edo State pilgrims in 2025.

The next pilgrimage to the Christian sacred places in the Jewish State is scheduled for January 2026.

Briefing journalists at the Benin Airport shortly after his arrival from pilgrimage to Israel, Rev. Omobude said that he traveled to Israel to strengthen relationship with the authorities of the Middle Eastern country so as to pave way for Edo State contingent to the Holy Land.

The Pilgrims Welfare Board chairman said the Israeli authorities have perfected plans to warmly receive Edo State contingent in January 2026 during the visit.

The visit to the Holy Land of Israel in conjunction with chairmen of the board from other states of the federation and the executive secretary, National Christian Pilgrims Commission, Bishop Steven Adegbite was to interface with the Israeli authorities and consolidate on the healthy relationship to ensure a hitche free pilgrimage by Edo State contingent.

The chairman, Edo State Christian pilgrims welfare Board said the one week pilgrimage provided him the apple opportunity to lift up Edo State into the hands of God, Governor Monday Okpebholo, deputy governor Dennis Idahosa, members of the state executive council and the entire state for God's divine protection, peace and tranquillity as the governor pursues vigorously the transformation of the state.

Rev. Omobde commended Governor Okpebholo for his passion for the work of God, which he noted is having a positive impact on the tremendous achievements recorded so since the inception of his administration.

The chairman stressed the need for Christians to show more interest in performing pilgrimage to the Holy Land as it offers a window for spiritual rejuvenation.

On hand to receive him at the airport were Pastor John Uwuigbe, Special Assistant on Religious Matters; Bishop David Matthew Izevbizua, Special Assistant on Religious Matters, Oredo Local Government Council; and Bishop Osazuwa Eguavoen, coordinator of the Teachers Registration Council.

Others were Dr Christy Uwoma; Pastor Francis Edogun; and the Assistant Woman Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward two, Oredo Local Government Area. 

Members of the Edugie cultural group were on ground to add colour to the warm reception accorded the chairman of the board on his arrival from Israel.
