Letting off Steam: Edo NUJ Chairman Alenkhe Joins Benin Recreation Club

The Chairman of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),  Comrade Festus Alenkhe has been admitted into the Benin Recreation Club. 

In a screening exercise presided over by Venerable Nosayaba Edokpolor, Comrade Alenkhe was asked to take a bow and leave.

Venerable Edokpolor described the Edo State NUJ chairman as a man of impeccable character, who is ready and willing to contribute to the development of the Benin Recreation Club. 

Concordonline news reports that Benin Recreation Club, which is located in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) of the Edo State capital, has as its members, the crème de la crème of society from various professions in Nigeria and was established in 1933 with a view to taking care of the recreational needs of its members and their families. 

Venerable Edokpolor stressed the need for continuous discipline in the 92 year old club, warning that any member found engaging in any form of illicit act will be sanctioned.

The new entrant remarked that his resolve to join the recreation club is to let off steam after a hectic day job filing reports and meeting deadlines.

Comrade Alenkhe noted that relaxation is key to overcoming the present stark economic realities of the country as a sound mind helps to promote development. 

The award winning crime reporter promised to contribute his quota to the growth of the Benin City based cub,  even as he vowed to respect and abide by its constitution.

The secretary, Comrade Marcus  MCain Okoebor added that as one of the foremost clubs in Nigeria, Benin Recreation Club promotes the well-being of its members.
