Ovia Federal Constituency By-election: Omosede Igbinedion Clinches APC Ticket, Commends Deputy Governor, Amayanvbo

Ahead of the August 16, 2025 House of Representatives by election for Ovia Federal Constituency, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has unanimously endorsed a scion of the Igbinedion Family of Okada.

The choice of Gabriella Omosede, who had a stint at the red chambers between 2007 and 2011 on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) was announced by the deputy governor, Dennis Idahosa, the immediate past  member, representing the consistency, shortly after a meeting.

The meeting at Iguobazuwa, headquarters of Ovia South West Local Government Area was attended by top.leaders of the party from the two local government areas, including Ovia South West which make up the Constituency. The younger igbinedion defected to the APC, shortly before the September 21, 2024 Edo governorship election.

In her acceptance speech shortly after the announcement, Ms. Igbinedion said that she was deeply humbled and truly honored by the endorsement as the sole candidate for Ovia Federal Constituency in the forthcoming House of Representatives election.

The candidate expressed her deep appreciation to the deputy governor; the state party chairman, Jarrett Tenebe; the leadership of the APC at all levels; and the dedicated stakeholders across Ovia North-East and Ovia South-West for the overwhelming show of trust and unity.

She commended her main challenger, Mr. Charity Amayanvbo, for his exemplary spirit of sportsmanship and statesmanship in stepping down his ambition in the interest of party unity and progress. 

Ms. Igbinedion added: "Your action speaks volumes of your maturity, vision, and commitment to the future of our constituency.

"To my constituents, I reaffirm my dedication to serve you with integrity, accountability, and compassion. This journey is ours and together, we will ensure Ovia continues to rise."
