A Labour Party (LP) member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Murphy Osaro Omoruyi has felicitated with Nigerian children on the occasion of the 2025 National Children's Day.

Mr. Omoruyi, said that the theme of this year's celebration, "Stand Up, Speak Out, Building a Bullying-Free Generation", underscores children as the future of Nigeria's leadership and innovative growth.

He said the theme could not be more apt than now given the global statistics which reveal that one out of every three children experiences bullying regularly while 65% of school age children in Nigeria experience different forms of bullying.

Against the backdrop of the grim statistics, the federal lawmaker calls on governments at all tiers to prioritize child protection as a bedrock for building a confident generation of children that would take Nigeria to greater heights in leadership,  innovations and other spheres of national development.

The LP lawmaker said that while it is gratifying to note that all the 36 federating states of Nigeria have domesticated the Child Rights Act, he however advised those entrusted with the upbringing of children: parents,  teachers,  religious leaders and caregivers to take ownership of the business of nurturing and protecting the Nigerian child.

He said: "On behalf of myself, family and the good people of Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency, I wish to convey my best wishes to all Nigerian children for a memorable 2025 National Children's Day celebration."
