A governorship candidate in the September 21, 2024 election in Edo State, Engr. Derek Izedonmwen has called on Governor Monday Okpebholo to take urgent and decisive action to curb the wave of violence and insecurity sweeping through Edo communities, often attributed to armed herdsmen and non-state actors

In an Easter Message in Benin, Engr. Izedonmwen of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) urged the federal and state governments to prioritize the welfare and security of the people.

He said: "A government that truly cares must invest in healthcare, education, agriculture, and social welfare, while tackling insecurity head-on."

While extending warm greetings to all Nigerians, especially Edo people, the public affairs analyst/advocate for good governance, said that Easter reminds Christians that even after the darkest night, dawn must come.

He said: "It is a powerful symbol of hope, sacrifice, and renewal - values we must hold on to as a nation.

"Now more than ever, we must embrace love not as mere emotion, but as a principle that shapes how we lead, serve, and live. Like the broom that cannot sweep effectively unless its strands are tied together, our strength as a people lies in unity."

The former governorship candidate said that Easter calls on people not only to pray but to act - with compassion, with courage, and with purpose., adding:

"Let us each do our part, however small, in mending the broken places of our society. May this season inspire us all to rise - in love, in service, and in hope."
