The national vice-chairman, South South of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih has disowned the Edo State Caretaker Committee of the party.
Chief Orbih, who spoke in Benin at the opening of a new state secretariat, which he donated to the party, insisted that for proper reconciliation and repositioning of the party for greater heights, the state caretaker committee chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi must step aside.
He accused the immediate past governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and all those who collaborated with him of working against the fortunes of the party in the state.
He said: "I have observed with disappointment, certain characters masquerading as acting caretaker committee members in Edo State. Today, I want to publicly declare that those who collaborated with Godwin Obaseki to kill PDP in Edo State cannot be acting caretaker committee members."
The PDP national vice chairman South South described the acting caretaker committee members as undertakers, who only came to bury the party in the state.
He added: "They are undertakers and undertakers cannot take care of PDP. They are those who buried the party in Edo State and I want to use this event to tell them to stay away."
Chief Orbih said that it's time for genuine party members to rebuild, reconstruct and reposition Edo PDP, noting that like the cankerworm, former Governor Obaseki came into the party to destroy it from within.
He challenged the immediate past governor to come back to Edo State and give an account of his eight years stewardship to Edo people.
The new PDP state secretariat, Benin CityChief Orbih said that the donation of the office was in fulfillment of a promise he made to leaders of the party, a few weeks ago after a meeting.
He said that the party needed a new office after a forceful ejection from their office by the All Progressives Congress (APC) last January 18.
