More congratulatory messages have continued to pour in following the landmark judgment of the Edo State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja which awarded victory to Governor Monday Okpebholo on the September 21, 2024 election.
The latest is from Chief Sunny Okomayin, a top member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo North.
Chief Okomayin, a former Edo North Zonal vice-chairman of the ruling APC described the verdict as a victory for democracy and respect for the will of Edo people.
He said: "Edo people spoke clearly and loudly on September 21 last year when they turned out en masse to vote for Senator Monday Okpebholo. The election was adjudged by impartial observers to be largely free and fair, devoid of violence. The tribunal merely affirmed the verdict of Edo people."
The Igarra Akoko Edo Local Government Area born politician advised Mr. Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to congratulate Governor Okpebholo and team up with him so that he can contribute his quota for a better Edo State, which the people all desire.
Popularly called Bigmoon, the APC chieftain, noted that, in a way, the judgment is also a victory for all Edo people, adding that in an election, a winner must emerge, which is Senator Okpebholo in the Edo Governorship Election.
While soliciting the support of all Edo people for the administration, Chief Okomayin said that almost five months after he took over the reins of power in Edo, the governor has, no doubt, made a big mark and put the state on the right track of development, with his laudable projects.
He added: "It's crystal clear that Edo people are gradually building an unshakeable trust in the governor whose words are his bonds . His actions speak louder than words. This has been shown in his piloting of the affairs of the state since November 12, 2024 when he was sworn into office."
