The Benin Zonal Coordinator of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Monday Igbafen has been scheduled to deliver the 127th Inaugural Lecture of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Titled "Plato's 'Philosopher King' and The Quest For Political Order in Nigeria", the lecture will hold under the distinguished chairmanship of the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Olowo Samuel.
Igbafen of the Department of Philosophy was appointed as a professor in October 2017, according to a statement by Otunba Mike Aladenika, a principal assistant registrar/head of information and public relations at the state owned tertiary institution.
The university don, who was the immediate past local chairman of ASUU at AAU was appointed as the zonal coordinator of the union in June 2023 by the national chairman, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke.
As zonal coordinator, the unionist coordinates the activities of the union in seven universities, including AAU, Ekpoma; the University of Benin (UNIBEN); and Adekunle Ajasin University (AAU), Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.
Other schools in the zone are Federal University of Petroleum and Resources (FUPRE), Effurun, Delta State; University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor; Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Delta State; and Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State.
