Okpebholo Flags Off Construction of Flyover in Benin, Plans Two More As Lawmakers Approve 20 Special Advisers
One week after he was sworn into office, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo Tuesday, November 19, 2024 flagged off construction of the first flyover in the Edo State capital of Benin City.
The first flyover in the state is being constructed at Ramat Park, Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony, Governor Okpebholo said the landmark project was part of his administration’s immediate efforts to reduce traffic congestion in the city.
He disclosed that his administration would also construct two more flyovers at Dawson Road junction, and Sapele Road/Adesuwa Road junction, all in Benin City.
Governor Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) added that the completion of Ramat Park Flyover would transform the economy and social fortunes of the capital city and the whole of Edo State.
He said: "Ramat Park is a gateway to Benin City and other parts of the country. The construction of the bridge will provide a new lease of life for motorists in Benin City and commuters along the two corridors of the Benin-Auchi Expressway and Benin-Asaba Expressway.
“We have gathered to witness the beginning of a very important project that will transform the economy and social fortunes of our capital city and indeed Edo State. Ramat Park is a gateway to Benin city and other parts of the country.
“Ramat Park Flyover will provide a new lease of life for motorists in Benin City and communities along these two corridors – the Benin-Auchi expressway and the Benin-Asaba expressway."
Meanwhile, the Edo State House of Assembly has approved the request of the Governor Okpebholo for the appointment of 20 Special Advisers just as the House also received the name of the Commissioner of Finance nominee, Mr. Emmanuel Okoebor.
The request for the appointment of Special Advisers and the confirmation of Mr. Okoebor contained in a letter sent to the Speaker of the House by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Musa Ikhilor.
