Ex-Edo NMA Secretary, Atsikidi Hails New Health Commissioner, Says Younger Oshiomhole Will Revolutionize Health Sector

A former Edo State secretary of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Leonard Atsikidi has congratulated the new Edo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole on his appointment and successful screening by members of the Edo State House of Assembly.

Dr. Cyril, scion of former Edo State governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was nominated by Governor Monday Okpebholo shortly after he was sworn in on Monday November 12, 2024.

Dr. Atsikidi noted that lions, they say give birth to lions, noting that he was of the opinion believe that with his position as Commissioner for Health, the younger Oshiomhole will bring about the much desired revolution in the health sector in the state, to the benefit of all Edo people and to the glory of God.

He called on all doctors and other medical staff in Edo State to support the new Health Commissioner in delivering on his new assignment. 

The ex-Edo NMA scribe concluded: "I therefore wish you a very successful and impactful tenure."

Dr. Oshiomhole graduated from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna State, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS).

He enrolled at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, New Orleans, Louisiana, United States where he obtained a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH, majoring in Environmental Health, Toxicology, and Disaster Management).

His academic pursuits continued at Harvard University, Boston, Massachusetts, United States where he underwent postgraduate training in Clinical Research and at Queen Mary University, London, United Kingdom where he studied Gastroenterology.
