Five persons were feared dead Friday in a fatal accident involving the convoy of Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 21 election.

The accident which happened along Warrake Road near Uzebba axis, Owan West Local Government Area of the State reportedly led to the death of one Mr.  Emmanuel Edionwe and four of his friends who rode in a Toyota Camry car.

The victims were said to be on their way home from a burial ceremony when they met their untimely death as they attempted to negotiate a sharp bend on the road and collided with the motorcade..

It was gathered that Senator Okpebholo’s convoy rammed into the victims’ Silver Camry Sedan car when they were attempting to negotiate a sharp bend on the road.

In tears, a relative of Mr.Edionwe who did not want his name in print lamented: “We are devastated beyond words. Emmanuel was a good, easy going boy.

“He and his friends were driving in the Silver Camry car. Five of them died in the collision with Okpebholo’s convoy. Emmanuel and four of his friends are dead. One of them is in critical condition and being nursed to life at the hospital.”

The cause of the fatal crash is yet to be determined as persistent efforts to get across to officials of the FRSC proved futile but the source however disclosed it was probably due to over speeding.

He disclosed that the late Edionwe died at Irrua Specialist Hospital, where he was  taken for intensive specialist care, adding:

“Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) evacuated the bodies from the scene of the accident to the hospital. Four of them died yesterday while another victim died this morning. The lone survivor is in critical condition.”

A source disclosed that the remains of the victims have since been deposited at the Edo State University, Uzairue Mortuary in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state
