Building Collapse: Two UNIBEN Students Rushed to UBTH

 Three students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) who were rescued from the collapsed storey building  Saturday morning at Ekosodin community are presently in stable condition at the school's Health Centre where they were rushed for treatment.

According to reports, the building, where the students resided at the popular students' village, collapsed in the early hours of today following a torrential rain which started Friday afternoon.

Cases of building collapse, which are very rampant in Nigerian commercial capital city of Lagos are very rare in the Edo State capital of Benin City and anywhere in the Heart Beat of the Nation State.

The statement by the institution's spokesperson, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire disclosed that a combined rescue team made up of staff of the Security and Fire service departments, the Health Centre, students as well as the police  succeeded in rescuing the students from the ill-fated building.

Mrs. Ehanire confirmed that no life was lost in the dawn tragedy, adding that the  two victims were later taken to the University of Benin  Teaching Hospital, where they are currently on admission.

The statement added: "Management wishes the affected students speedy recovery and commends the rescue team for their gallantry."
