A former aide to Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, Mrs. Rita Ebiuwa has apologized to Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2020 Edo Governorship Election, over damaging allegations.

In a Facebook post in 2020 during the heat of the campaigns, Mrs. Ebiuwa, a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Committee had accused Pastor Ize-Iyamu of involvement in an alleged criminal activity on campus as a law student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) in the 80s.

Peeved by the damaging post, the APC top member had dragged the former personal assistant to Governor Obaseki to court in Suit No: - B/488/2020, demanding damages.

The ex-aide, who, again to took her Facebook page in a letter dated October 6, 2023 and titled Re: Edo 2023: Prof. Grace Alele-Williams Recognises Osagie Ize-Iyamu As A Notorious Criminal On Campus", said that she was writing to address a previous Facebook post which was titled: “Former UNIBEN VC Recently on Ize-lyamu’s Character Profile", which she wrote on the 17th day of July, 2020 regarding the politician's person.

She admitted that the post had wrongly and falsely accused Pastor Ize-Iyamu of involvement in an alleged criminal activity on campus as a university student.

In the "Open Letter of Apology", the contrite PDP stalwart admitted that she had since come to the realization that the said publication which was posted on her Facebook profile is untrue and without any factual basis and hereby wholeheartedly tender her unreserved apology to the former Secretary to Edo State Government.

Mrs. Ebiuwa added: "Sir, I regret the inconveniences the said publication might have caused you. I hereby reiterate that from the sincerity of my heart, I extend my deepest apologies to your esteemed family, friends, and well-wishers for any distress or embarrassment that the aforementioned publication may have caused. | beg of you and all of them to find a place in their hearts to forgive me.

She continued: "I undertake to file this letter of apology in the case instituted by you against me in Suit No: - B/488/2020 - Pastor Osagie Ize-lyamu Vs. Rita Ebuiwa, and hereby seek for your kind disposition in accepting the apology, which I shall cause to be published in full on my Facebook profile and that I will be willing to enter a consent judgment on terms to be agreed upon in the said judicial proceedings."

She passionately pleaded: "Accept my highest professional and warmest regards."
