Ahead of Monday, August 7 clash in the round of sixteen between the Super Falcons of Nigeria and the Lioness of England in the ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, the Nigerian High Commissioner to Australia, His Excellency Anderson Madubike has urged Nigerians all over the world to support the women's national football team.
The crucial encounter is billed to take off at Brisbane Stadium at 8:30am Nigeria time, nine hours behind Central Australia time.
Madubike, who spoke weekend from Australia, said the Nigerian ladies are presently the most talked about in the competition because of their determination and result oriented approach in the group stage.
The diplomat added that the Super falcons needed all the supports from Nigerians to be able to overcome whatever opposition that comes their way especially as they face England, one of the competition favourites in the knockouts.
Sounding optimistic, the high commissioner advised Nigerians to do selfies while watching the match and post them on social media as it will go a long way in boosting the moral of the girls when they come across them.
The Super Falcons progressed to the knockout stage after finishing as runners up in Group B with five points from three games behind the Matildas of Australia with six points, losing to only Nigeria 2:3.
England women's national football team on the other hand, secured the maximum nine points in the group stage after beating Denmark, Haiti and China.
