A People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2024 election in Edo State, Mr. Ephraim Aluebhosele has promised to be a governor of all Edo people.

Aluebhosele, the immediate member representing Igueben Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly said that as governor he will unite all Edo people in the three senatorial districts of Edo South, Edo Central and Edo North.

The ex-lawmaker who reiterated his determination to run in the forthcoming governorship primaries of the PDP said that even though he is Esan, his desire is to be an Edo governor of Esan extraction.

If given the mandate, he explained that he will aim to unite all Edo people with a common ancestry which is easily traceable to Great Benin, adding that even though dialects differ, "we are one people."

Aluebhosele said: “Even though I am Esan from Igueben, I don’t want to be the governor of Edo Central. I want to be the governor of all Edo people. Edo is our common home. We are all brothers and sisters with a common Benin ancestry. I want to unite all Edo people. Edo is the only state that we have and must be united. There is strength in unity.”

In line with the old adage which says that there's strength in unity, he said that he is very passionate about Edo State, noting that he will take the whole of the state as his constituency and will not discriminate against any part if he wins.

The aspirant insisted that he is proudly pan-Edo, promising that, he will unveil his manifestoes once the PDP unveils its rules and guidelines for the primaries.

He said: "I am waiting for the party to announce its guidelines for the governorship primaries so that I can hit the ground running. I hope to traverse the length and breadth of the state meeting  people.  Once the timetable is out, I’ll unfold my manifestoes. My aim is to unite all Edo people for even development. We are stronger together.”

Aluebhosele said that he will continue in the footsteps of Governor Godwin Obaseki, who he insisted has done a lot in turning around the fortunes of the state in the area of roads, education, sports, power generation, health amongst other critical infrastructure.

He added that he decided not to go back to the House for a second term so as to be able to concentrate on his governorship ambition and not be distracted.
